Scholarship Details

Funded by the prestigious Kempe Foundation, this tax-free scholarship offers a total of 700,000 SEK, disbursed in four payments over the two-year period. This equates to 29,166 SEK per month, providing ample support for your research endeavors. The application deadline is July 1, 2024.

Project Overview

Globally, one in every five individuals experienced clinically detectable hearing loss in 2019. Traditional audiometry tests, which estimate hearing thresholds in silence, are invaluable yet fall short of identifying underlying pathological causes and suprathreshold hearing deficits. Our team has developed sophisticated auditory models to simulate sound coding in the human auditory periphery, examining how specific cochlear pathologies impact this process.

In this project, we aim to enhance our cochlear mechanics models and integrate them with computational models of the auditory neural pathways. This integration will help us understand how various pathologies affect the auditory system’s overall response, particularly at suprathreshold levels.

Additionally, our projects include implementing signal processing techniques on DSP platforms to address various aspects of hearing loss. Should you be interested, you are welcome to contribute to these efforts.

As a postdoc at TFE, you will immerse yourself in an international, collaborative environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to expand your expertise in cochlear mechanics, auditory modeling, technical audiology, and real-time signal processing. We encourage intellectual curiosity and support research that can be published in high-impact scientific journals.
