Kickstart Your Neuroscience Career with the Schroeder Lab at LMU Munich!

The newly established Schroeder Lab, led by Prof. Dr. Anna Schroeder, is inviting applications for multiple PhD positions in Neuroscience at LMU Munich, Germany’s top-ranked university for neuroscience and life sciences.

About the Lab
The Lab research focuses on understanding how neural circuits in the enigmatic zona incerta influence emotions, motivations, and behavior. We combine state-of-the-art techniques to explore how internal states, external cues, and past experiences shape adaptive behaviors.

Our Cutting-Edge Methods Include:

  • In vivo calcium imaging (2-photon microscopy, Miniscopes)
  • Whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology
  • Single-cell RNA sequencing
  • Optogenetics & Chemogenetics
  • Viral circuit tracing
  • Transgenic mouse models
  • Advanced machine learning for neural data
  • State-driven behavioral paradigms

Mission
To advance understanding of brain function and develop novel therapies for psychiatric disorders through neuromodulation.

What to Offer

  • World-class research environment: LMU Munich is consistently ranked as the best academic institution for neuroscience in Germany.
  • Collaborative ecosystem: Partnerships with Max Planck Institutes, DZNE, Helmholtz Institutes, and TU Munich.
  • Career development: Mentorship from Prof. Dr. Schroeder, who is dedicated to the success of her team.
