Postdoctoral Research Opportunity in Japan

Role Overview

Primary Responsibilities

As a postdoctoral researcher, your main tasks will include:

  • Simulation Development: Designing and refining simulation techniques for advanced and next-gen batteries.
  • Material Analysis: Integrating 3D electrode and separator imaging with intrinsic material properties.
  • Collaborative Research: Working closely with interdisciplinary teams to implement findings into practical applications.
  • Reporting & Publishing: Documenting research progress and contributing to high-impact publications.

Duties may evolve as per institutional needs, ensuring a dynamic and stimulating research environment.


Who We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: A Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a related field (or expected completion by the start date).
  • Experience: Proven expertise in chemical engineering simulation research.

Desired Skills

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaborative and innovative mindset.
  • Proficiency in English (Japanese language skills are a bonus but not mandatory).

Position Details

Location

National Institute for Materials Science, Namiki-Site, Tsukuba City, Ibaraki, Japan.

Employment Period

  • Start Date: April 1, 2025 (negotiable).
  • Initial Contract: 1 year, with possible renewals based on performance, budget, and workload.
  • Maximum Employment Duration: 5 years (subject to institutional policy updates).

Work Hours & Holidays

  • Hours: Standard workday of 7 hours 45 minutes.
  • Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year holidays, and paid leave.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Competitive and in accordance with NIMS regulations.
  • Allowances: Includes commuting allowance.
  • Insurance: Comprehensive coverage including health, welfare pension, employment, and worker’s accident compensation insurance.
  • Trial Period: A two-month probationary period applies.
