IRB Barcelona is offering PhD fellowships for young scientists who wants to pursue a doctral degree in Biomedidicine during the academic year 2022-2023.
The following will be offered in this call:
- Up to 4 fellowships associated with the “Contratos Predoctorales para la Formación de Doctores (FPI)” 2022 call assigned to the Severo Ochoa Accreditation funded by the “Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (MICINN)” (herein referred to as Severo Ochoa fellowships).
- Up to 6 fellowships associated with the “Ayudas para contratos predoctorales para la formación de doctores” 2022 call funded by the “Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (MICINN)” (herein referred to as FPI Project fellowships).
- 1 fellowship funded by the Cris Cancer Foundation Excellence 2020 program at the Quantitative Stem Cell Dynamics lab, directed by Alejo E. Rodriguez-Fraticelli, “SYSTEMS ANALYSIS OF THERAPY-RESISTANCE IN ACUTE MYELOID LEUKEMIA”.
- 1 fellowship funded by the La Marató Foundation at the Microtubule Organization lab, directed by Jens Lüders, under the project grant #202019-30-31-32, “Linking cellular defects with clinical manifestations in Cohen Syndrome”.
IRB Barcelona will hire all of the fellowship recipients. Fellowships will be renewed on an annual basis for up to four years from the date of the awardee’s signature of the employment contract, provided that he or she meets all of the requirements of this call’s point X.
Selection Criteria: IRB Barcelona PhD Fellowship 2022
Prospective early-stage researchers (ESRs) of any nationality, gender, culture, religion, sexual orientation, or age will be recruited by IRB Barcelona to pursue a PhD in biomedicine.
1. Students who have completed one of the following choices by September 2022 are eligible for the program:
a) studies leading to an official Spanish (or another European Higher Education Area) university degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Physics, Medicine, or allied disciplines with 300 credits (ECTS), at least 60 of which must be master’s level.
b) a degree from a non-Spanish university that is not accredited by the European Higher Education Area and allows you to pursue doctoral studies in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Physics, Medicine, or other related subjects.
2. Candidates are chosen solely on the basis of their academic credentials. Each applicant’s academic grades and curriculum vitae, as well as recommendation letters and letters of recommendation, are assessed.

Applications
Applicants should send a completed online application form, together with the following
documents:
- Academic certificate or certified copy of the academic report corresponding to the degree
completed. These documents must show the grades attained in exam periods of February,
June and/or September.
Non-Spanish nationals should present: 1) a certified copy and sworn translation of their
academic records (in the case that the original is in a language other than English, Spanish or
Catalan). - Curriculum Vitae specifying education and experience and supported by pertinent
documents. - Motivation letter.
- Two recommendation letters from university lecturers or scientists with whom they have
