The FITM (Forum on Indian traditional medicines) works in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH. This way it funds the studies on various issues related to Indian traditional medicines (ITM). These issues include economic, sociological, trade, management, and technology-related aspects of ITM. Its main objective is to promote the access to and expansion of the Indian system of medicines. The Fellowship is not applicable to studies relating to clinical, pharmacological, pharmacognosy & other related research areas.

Categories & Duration

There are two categories for the grants: Doctoral fellowship and Post Doctoral Fellowship. Doctoral fellowship is for a span of 2-years. The postdoctoral fellowship is for a one-year span.

Eligibility

Doctoral Research Fellowship applicant should be a full-time Ph.D. scholar in any UGC-recognized Indian University or deemed University /Institute. Post-doctoral Research Fellowship applicant should have obtained his/her Ph.D. degree at
the time of application for the Fellowship.

Fellowship amount

The all-inclusive maximum amount of up to Rs 5 lakh/- per year is for Doctoral students and the all-inclusive maximum amount of up to Rs 7.5 lakh/- per year is for Postdoctoral fellowships. The payment would be subject to the standard deduction of TDS.

Age

The maximum age for doctoral fellowship is 30 years with a relaxation of 5 years for reserved categories, physically challenged and women. The maximum age for a postdoctoral fellowship is 35 years with a similar relaxation.
