Up to 7 Leeds Doctoral Scholarships are open for application by Home fee-rated students for the 2023/24 academic session. These scholarships are available for study in the following faculties: Arts, Humanities and Cultures; Biological Sciences; Business; Engineering and Physical Sciences; Environment; Medicine and Health; Social Sciences. The scholarship is fully funded and covers a period of 3.5 years for full-time study, pro-rata for part-time study.
Applications close at 17:00 (UK time) on Wednesday, March 1st 2023. The award will be made for one year initially and is renewable for an additional 2 and a half years (pro-rata for part-time), subject to satisfactory academic progress. The scholarship covers University of Leeds standard home rate fees and a maintenance grant at the standard UKRI rate (£17,668 in Session 2022/23).
Eligibility requirements include not being awarded or currently enrolled in a doctoral degree, taking up the scholarship by October 1st 2023, and residing within a reasonable distance from the University of Leeds while receiving the scholarship.
The selection process involves each school shortlisting applicants and the University Scholarship Selection Panel making the final decision based on academic merit. The names of the successful applicants will be published within the University and on the University website within 10 weeks of the scholarship closing date.
To apply, first submit an application for a research program, then complete the online application form once you receive your 9-digit Student Application ID. Supporting documents must be submitted with the study application, and a failure to do so will result in the scholarship application not being considered.
Applicants must hold a First Degree equivalent to a UK First Class Honours degree, or be in the final year of study. The University of Leeds requires a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with at least 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.
