Fellowship Overview:

For the 2025–2026 academic year, the fellowship’s focus will revolve around the theme of “Truth.” The Wolf Humanities Center seeks interdisciplinary scholars whose work explores this theme and who will benefit from access to the resources of the University of Pennsylvania. This fellowship is ideal for scholars not yet in tenure-track positions and who have not previously engaged with Penn’s academic resources.

Fellowship Details:

  • Fellowship Duration: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026
  • Stipend: Minimum of $66,300, plus a $3,000 research fund
  • Health Insurance: Discounted single-coverage health insurance provided
  • Eligibility: Scholars must have received or will receive their PhD (or DPhil) between May 2020 and September 2025. This includes international scholars, with a J-1 visa for those outside North America.
  • Interdisciplinary Requirement: Scholars from the humanities or allied fields such as anthropology or history of science are encouraged to apply.

During the fellowship, postdocs are required to:

  • Teach one course in the College of Arts & Sciences (not at the Wolf Humanities Center)
  • Participate in the weekly Mellon Research Seminar every Tuesday from 12:00–1:30 PM
  • Contribute to the planning of a public symposium based on the annual theme
  • Engage in professional development workshops and other collaborative opportunities
  • Work closely with a faculty mentor

Applications are now open for the 2025–2026 Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship. Interested scholars should apply before the deadline: Sunday, November 3, 2024, by 11:59 PM (Eastern time). Final decisions will be announced in February 2025.
